Fees can vary depending on the nature of your case and the type of fee arrangement. There are hourly rate cases such as divorces.  Other cases are taken on a contingent fee basis, where the attorney only gets paid if and when they obtain a recovery for you, whether by settlement or judgment.  Typical contingent fee rates range between 25% and 40% of the recovery.  The most common contingent fee is 33%.  The attorney generally will be reimbursed from the client's portion of the recovery for any expenses that the attorney advanced in your case, such as filing fees, service of process fees, deposition costs, expert witness fees (if any), etc.
